Oh Yeah, You Are The Pirates Right?
You think there might be days that the University of Pittsburgh might have wanted to stay at Pitt Stadium?
On September 16th, the Panthers are scheduled to host the Michigan State Spartans at 3:30 on an ABC, oops sorry, ESPN on ABC regional game at Heinz Field. A good time to be had by all. Lots of Dr. Pepper consumed, goal posts with extra bolts, etc. You know the drill. But wait!
Heinz Field shares parking lots with another small tenant. The Pittsburgh Pirates and PNC Park. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette someone failed to look at the Pirates schedule and that pesky 7:05 first pitch that is in place as the Buccos host the presumed National League East winners, the New York Mets.
Why cannot the Pirates move their game? It's Jack Wilson Bobblehead night, and the game is a virtual sell out. When did the Pirates release the schedule? Last year. When was the promotion announced? January 27th. How long did it take me to find this? Forty-five seconds.
The Pirates open the gates two hours before the first pitch, or in the later half of the second quarter. Maybe, just maybe, before telling ESPN and the Big Ten that sure, that 3:30 start is fine, they could look at a calendar? Nah, that would be common sense.
