ACC Champs: Wake Forest

Written by In The Bleachers on .

In a defensive battle, Wake Forest held off Georgia Tech by a score of 9-6 to become the ACC Champions.  The Demon Deacons won their only other ACC title in 1970 and will appear in their first major bowl game since they defeated South Carolina in the 1945 Gator Bowl.  Wake Forest will represent their conference in the Orange Bowl.  Their likely opponent will be the Big East conference winner, either Louisville or Rutgers. Georgia Tech will probably be heading to the Gator Bowl, where they will be matched up against either a Big 12 team (possibly Texas or Texas A&M) or West Virginia.  The Gator Bowl has the option to choose a team from the Big 12 or the Big East/Notre Dame in two of the next four seasons to meet an ACC team.
