Fisher DeBerry Retires
Fisher DeBerry, head coach at Air Force, has announced his retirement according to CBS Sportsline's Dennis Dodd. DeBerry had been at the Academy for 27 years and spent the last 23 as the head coach. He is the winningest coach in Air Force history and lead the school to 12 bowl games (with a 6-6 record) and 14 Commander in Chief's Trophies during his tenure. DeBerry, 68, is a native of Cheraw, South Carolina and played his college football for Wofford College.
The head coaching job at Air Force is one of the most unique positions in college football due to its admission requirements. There is no early word on who will replace DeBerry.
