The University of Miami had to scramble at the end of the recruiting season last year when
Pat Devlin decommited and gave a verbal to Penn State. Devlin cited the reason for leaving was the fact that head coach Larry Coker fired their quarterback coach after the thrashing by LSU in the Peach Bowl. So the Hurricanes did a little poaching of their own, taking
Daniel Stegall from Arkansas State. Stegall signed his LOI with Miami on National Letter of Intent day but that might not stop him from signing a contract of another sorts.
The New York Mets selected Stegall in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft on Tuesday and Stegall states that he will make his decision sometime soon as to if he is going to sign with the
Mets or stay with the Hurricanes. This is another blow to Larry Coker’s team, which he might not be able to rectify. Coker is already under fire for his lackluster season and even worse showing in the Peach Bowl last year.
