Iron Bowl to be moved to Thanksgiving Weekend
In a recent meeting of the SEC athletic directors a rule was passed that will require all teams to play on Thanksgiving weekend starting in 2007. With that new rule the annual meeting between Alabama and Auburn known as the Iron Bowl will be moved from its tradition week before Thanksgiving-to-Thanksgiving weekend. It will join the rest of the rivalry games that take place during that week.
The SEC thought it was unfair that Auburn and Alabama were getting a week off before the SEC championship games while all the other teams had to play the week prior. Head coach (of Auburn) Tommy Tuberville does not like the idea of moving the game because it does not give the winner chance to enjoy the victory. Come on Tommy; don’t give us a pack of lies. You just like the extra week off.
