Week 10 Games Flying Under the Radar

Pittsburgh @ South Florida - The Bulls are a totally different team at home than on the road. They took Rutgers to the bitter end before losing by two. The Panthers are a little soft on the run defense but the Bulls are average at best running the ball. Tyler Palko needs to take care of the ball unlike in their defeated at home against the Scarlet Knights where he had a few fumbles. This will be a close one but the Panthers should pull it out. Check out the Pitt Blather for a detailed breakdown of this game. Pitt 25-19. Missouri @ Nebraska - Both teams are coming off disappointing losses last week. Missouri got stomped by Oklahoma while Nebraska had a let down after their game against Texas and let Oklahoma State score 40+ points on them. Our friend Jon over at Corn Nation has a nice preview of the game. This game is for the Big 12 North title. I believe Nebraska's hangover is gone and Zac Taylor will have a good day throwing on this Tiger defense who got their first taste of a real team last week. Plus playing Nebraska in Lincoln is no picnic, just ask Texas. Nebraska 30-17. Maryland @ Clemson - Clemson looked light a totally different team last Thursday night against the Hokies. Their offense could not do anything and their defense looked like Swiss Cheese with all the holes Branden Ore ran through. The Terps are trying to keep their ACC Atlantic Championship hopes alive but have lost to the only two good teams they have played (WVU & Ga Tech). In the WVU game, Steve Slaton ripped them apart on the ground and that is exactly what James Davis and C.J. Spiller will do to them this week. Clemson 37-13. Arizona State @ Oregon State - The Beavers are home again after their huge upset of USC last weekend. As I looked over Building The Dam I didn't find any mention about this week's game against the Sun Devils, but plenty of mention of the USC win. For their sake I hope the Beavers are taking the Sun Devils for real. Both teams only need 1 win to become bowl eligible. For the Sun Devils to win Rudy Carpenter has to morph himself back into his freshman ways leading his team through the air. The Beavers gave up over 200 yds to one receiver last week so Carpenter had to see that as a weakness. I think the combination of a little hang over and Arizona State's improvement gives them the slight edge in this game. Arizona State 41-37. Oklahoma State @ Texas - The Longhorns had a scare last week against Texas Tech while Oklahoma State surprised everyone to beat Nebraska. The Cowboys showed they had an offense but the question is; do they have enough offense to make up for their lackluster defense? The Longhorns gave up a ton of passing yards but led by Colt McCoy came back to win a thriller. I think McCoy has another big day throwing the ball and the Texas defense will not be thrown all over two weeks in a row. Check out Burnt Orange Nation for more analysis. Texas 40-23. Arkansas @ South Carolina - The Auburn Tigers are big Gamecock fans this weeks as they need Arkansas to lose twice for the Tigers to win the SEC West. The Gamecocks are entering the tough part of their schedule as they still have Tennessee and LSU . South Carolina hung tough against Tennessee last week only losing by 7 while the Razorbacks spanked La Monroe. I keep waiting for the Razorbacks to crash back down after winning 7 in a row and I think this might be the week. I believe this is the week Syvelle Newton plays a perfect game while Mitch Mustain's freshman inexperience shows. The Gamecock's defense will stuff Darren McFadden putting it all on Mustain's shoulders. Check out Cock N Fire for their thoughts and just for the fact that they have a great blog name! South Carolina 20-17.
