Bowl Eligibility Countdown: ACC

Wow, I never realized how many i's are in eligibility until I typed it. Yet, there are no i's in team, so with that in mind, I think it's time to look at how the postseason is shaping up. So let's look at the ACC and see how the bowl scene is likely to shake down. Please note, this a very rough sketch of who will make a bowl, we'll leave the bowl prognostications for later in the week. In A Bowl Clemson - The Tigers sit at 7-1, so they're in a bowl, barring a bench clearing brawl. Boston College - The Eagles are flying high at 6-1, but their fans are running out of Maalox. Wake Forest - No, that's not a mistake, the Demon Deacons are bowl eligible. The 6-1 Deacs are on pace for 8 wins, which would tie a school record. Likely In Florida State - The Seminoles are in a tenuous position at 4-3. Their schedule is @Maryland, Virginia, @ Wake Forest, Western Michigan, Florida. At least 7-5 isn't out of the question. Georgia Tech - After being destroyed by Clemson, the 5-2 Jackets should end the season with at least 8 wins. Miami, @NC State, @ UNC, Duke, @UGA Miami - Barring an unlikely barring from the postseason, the 5-2 Canes will get to at least 7 wins. @GT, VT, @Maryland, @UVA, BC Virginia Tech - The 5-2 Hokies are assured of a birth with a home date against Kent State looming, but the rest of their schedule is @Clemson, @Miami, @Wake Forest, UVA) Maybe in a Bowl NC State - The 3-4 Wolfpack need a few breaks to get into the postseason. If they beat UVA next week, then the path should be easier. After that they have, GT, @Clemson, @UNC, East Carolina. Likely Finished Maryland - The Terps sit at 5-2, so surely I'm not making any hairy legged female friends. Be that as it may, they have a horrid schedule down the stretch that sees them visit Clemson and BC. They have home dates with FSU, Miami and Wake, so it will be interesting to see if they can steal one. Virginia - 3-5, the Cavaliers don't have enough games left to get to six. NC State, @FSU, @Miami, @VT. UNC - 1-6, and a loss at Wake should end their hopes quickly. Also @ND, GT, NC State, @Duke) Done Duke - A schedule that includes Vandy, Navy and UNC may provide a win, but the 0-7 Blue Devils are officially eliminated from any bowl. So there you have it. The ACC looks to have 7-8 teams in a bowl this season.
