Football, Eh?

This may never happen on a major level, but USA Today is reporting that the NCAA is discussing whether two Canadian schools might be allowed to join the currently exclusive American association. The University of British Columbia and Windsor, Ontario's Saint Clair college have applied for membership and it has not been rejected out of hand. While St. Clair would only play hockey, UBC might play Baseball or other big program sports. While football was not discussed, if teams from Canada were to be accepted into the NCAA, Canadian College Football rules are the same style as our college rules and the game is not played the same way the CFL is. (12 on 12, 3 downs). Canadian programs are actually decent, with Montreal schools such as McGill and Concordia and Queens in Toronto winning on a regular basis. These aren't BCS ready schools by any means, but the talent is there and, if the NCAA wished to make the plunge, you could say that there is I-AA talent from the get go. Something to ponder.
