Who's #2?
I got caught up watching the Tiger-Yankee game, so this update is a bit late. Don't forget to listen tomorrow to ITB's Saturday Final, a review of the day in college football. It should be up shortly after midnight here on the east coast.
Top 25 Today:
#1 Ohio State handles Bowling Green, 35-7.
#2 Auburn, as we said earlier, loses to Arkansas, 27-10.
#3 Southern Cal struggles a bit with Washington, they end up winning 26-20.
#4 West Virginia wins their first reume game, downing Mississippi State 42-14. Steve Slaton rushes for 186.
#5 Florida will be leap frogging some teams. They pound #9 LSU, 23-10.
#6 Michigan wins an impressive one over in state rival Michigan State, 31-13.
#8 Texas rolls over Oklahoma in Dallas, 28-10. Big win for Colt McCoy and company.
#12 Notre Dame goes through Stanford, 31-10. Brady Quinn with three touchdown strikes.
Clemson and Iowa with huge wins as well.
We'll delve into more details during the podcast, but a couple points on the big games this afternoon.
Florida could easily be the #2 team in the country when the new polls come out. They suffocated LSU in the Swamp the entire day, despite getting outgained on offense, 315-289. Tim Tebow is becoming a dual threat on offense, leading to three scores. No other SEC team has a threat quite like him under center. JaMarcus Russell coming pretty close. The Gator defense came up strong again today and that is the difference.
Colt McCoy became a man this afternoon, (no bad jokes here, Chris:)) as he led the Texas offense into doing the right things in their 28-10 win over Oklahoma. He only was sacked once and did not turn the ball over, while hitting two touchdown strikes and completeing 11 of 18 for 107. Adrian Peterson did break 100 yards rushing, but Paul Thompson's two interceptions for the Sooners were two too many.
The BCS gets a whole bunch tighter and we're not done yet today.
