Ara, Not Jerry
We'll deal with the rest of the day during the halftime of Texas/Ohio State.
Well, earlier this morning I asked three questions and at 6:57 ET tonight they had all been pretty much answered.
Notre Dame will move up to #2 in both big polls after their impressive win over Penn State, 41-17.
In 3:15 today, they answered all their critics and made a huge statement on where they stand and how this season will go. Quinn looked like Quinn, the defense was incredible, Weis looked like Dan Devine, and the 80,000 crowd left, very, very happy.
Last year, they tried to make their statement against Southern Cal, but Matt Leinart willed his way down the field to win.
This year, they made it with emphasis.
Early on, Brady Quinn's passes were sailing, the defense unorganized, but they blew through Penn State's morale, and when they recovered a fumble on the first play from scrimmage in the second half and scored, the game was over. You could see this team gel in front of your eyes.
It's not like Penn State played poorly, they made mistakes today that they won't make in the future. They have a BCS capable team, with the Akron struggle vindicated by the Zips upset of North Carolina State. They played young against a team that clicked on all cylinders.
Now, I'm not a Notre Dame fan by any stretch, but pour me a glass of green kool-aid, sugar free please, and color me very impressed.
The Irish have arrived.
