Carolina's Mitchell Cleared, But Suspended
The assault charge brought on South Carolina quarterback Blake Mitchell has been dropped.
Mitchell was charged with one count of simple assault following an altercation at Pavlov's, near the South Carolina campus, early Wednesday morning. Alledgedly, Mitchell had a confrontation with a bouncer after the quarterback tried to enter with underage girls, according to USA Today. Mitchell, according to police reports, struck Kylan Ertzberger in the left eye.
Mitchell was suspended Wednesday by head coach Steve Spurrier.
In a court session today, Ertzberger withdrew his complaint and the charge was dropped. Mitchell is, however, banned from going into the establishment again.
With I-AA Wofford playing the Gamecocks this weekend, South Carolina will go with Syvelle Newton as the their quarterback this week with Mitchell expected to be at practice on Monday.
