ITB Goes Cross-Country
Oklahoma fans are not alone in their disdain for officiating.
LSU Athletic Director, Skip Bertman, went on the record with his unhappiness over two calls that went against the #10 Bayou Bengals late in their loss to SEC West rival Auburn.
LSU had a pass interference call pulled when officials conferred and determined that a pass to receiver Early Doucet was tipped before contact was made. (The CBS replay was not conclusive, if memory serves.)
LSU was later flagged for interference on an interception play, negating a turnover and giving Auburn a first down on what was a third and 29 play.
The SEC Office has stood by the officials' calls, and we respectfully but strongly disagree," Bertman said in a statement released by LSU on Tuesday and posted on ESPN. "We strive for excellence every day in LSU athletics, and we expect the same level of excellence from the officials that are assigned to us by the SEC."
Elsewhere:
UConn starting safety Marvin Taylor was arrested Friday on a larceny charge. The junior, facing his second criminal charge in a year, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and illegal vuse of a credit card. He is accused of stealing a credit card number and using it for purchases.
Taylor played in Saturday's loss to Wake Forest, after being released on bond, making 5.5 tackles and forcing a fumble.
According to ESPN, Taylor was one of five arrested last year following a pellet gun shooting at a Connecticut convenience store. He is currently on probation for that.
Finally:
Stanford WR Evan Moore will miss Saturday's game against Washington State. Moore received a stress fracture in his right foot before last week's loss to Navy. He could be out for up to four weeks and further depletes the Cardinal offense that has been injury plagued this season.
