Louisville's Bush OUT For Season

(AP) Louisville Cardinal senior running back Michael Bush broke his right leg tonight in the third quarter of the Cardinal opener against Kentucky. Bush, who had 124 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of Louisville's drubbing of the Wildcats, had his leg pinned at an akward angle during thesecond play of the second half. The AP reports that he remained on the ground for several minutes before leaving the field on a stretcher. His college career is over. Potentially, this is a huge blow for the Cardinals. They are expected to not only contend for the Big East title, but for a slot in the BCS title game as well as most pundits, including us on this blog, expect either Louisville or West Virginia to possibly run the table and go to the title game undefeated. Bush was supposed to be part of the two headed offensive monster, along with quarterback Brian Brohm, that was supposed to contend for the Heisman Trophy as well. He led the nation last year in scoring averaging 14.4 points per game along with a school record 23 touchdowns and remained in school instead of going into the NFL Draft to help the school win a championship.
