So Far, So Irish
It looks good so far for Notre Dame, sorry Dr. They have been mightily impressive in the first half.
Before reviewing that, lets look at the rest of the day so far:
Two rather minor upsets. Akron goes for the win on the 1 yard lie of NC State with three seconds to go down 17-14. They score the touchdown and win 20-17.
New Hampshire upsets Northwestern, 34-17 in Evanston. Purdue wins in OT, 38-31 over Miami, OH.
All the early games played by rated teams were easily won by rated teams.
In the 3:30 wave, Iowa, Oklahoma are tied with Syracuse and Washington. Vandy leads Alabama, 10-3 in the third.
To the game at hand. Notre Dame struggled a bit, but caught fire in the second quarter. Brady Quinn looks extremely sharp. They are running well and the defense is doing the job.
To be blunt, Penn State is beating themselves on top of this good ND gameplan. Missed field goals, a dropped interception, a bad clipping call, and others have sent the Nittany Lions morale down.
At 20-0, it's not over, but it's close. Penn State gets the ball first. If they can settle in, they can comeback.
In a nutshell, Notre Dame has greatly improved from Week 1 to Week 2. They will be tough to catch.
More later.
