Coast to Coast Blogging: Week 10 Wrap Up
I did get to watch quite a bit of football this weekend, so I will actually give you my thoughts from this weekend’s games.
Glennon had to wear a Yellow Jacket jersey, but remembered which Tech he played for
In the ACC, it was only a matter of time before Boston College lost. The Eagles came back last week to beat the Hokies in the last seconds, but couldn’t do the same this week against the Seminoles. Boston College does not have the speed on offense to counter act teams like FSU and even Virginia Tech, but it didn’t help that both games were played in the rain.
Now the Eagles have to worry about keeping that Coastal Division lead. Clemson is only one game behind and the two teams meet later this year. BC has to regroup or it could find itself mirroring USF, by falling fast. In the Atlantic Division, the Hokie-Cavalier game just got even bigger. Virginia beat Wake Forest by 1 point, giving the Cavs their third win by 1 point this season. If Virginia can get past Miami next week in the Orange Bowl, they will be facing their intrastate rival for a chance at the ACC Championship.

Looking through the scores of the Big 12 I noticed that Kansas scored 76 points; I refreshed the page a few time because I thought it had to be either an error or a college basketball score. I realize right now that it was for real. The Cornhuskers have sunk to a new low and it seems as if their coach has lost his team once again (remember the Raiders). The Jayhawks continue to defy logic and show that they have an offense to go with their tough defense. A win against Missouri and they could be playing Oklahoma for a BCS bowl game, and maybe even a place in the BCS title game.
Mike Gundy should have used his little tirade on his team after their 3 point loss to Texas. I don’t understand how you blow a 21 point lead, at home. They allowed the Longhorns to score 24 points in the fourth quarter. Don’t look now Big 12 fans, but you have 3 teams in the top 10.
UConn's rise to the top even has ITB's hot doctor in disbelief
The Big East was a little ho-hum this weekend. Connecticut continued to surprise everyone by winning against Rutgers. The Huskies are not flashy but they play good on the defensive side of the ball. UConn has not given up more than 18 points this season. I can’t wait to see them go up against West Virginia.
For those who follow my Big Ten predictions each week, I was a perfect 6-0 for the second time in three weeks. Ohio State slept for a half, but once again showed why they are #1 scoring 28 points in the second stanza. Michigan came back to beat Michigan State, and Chad Henne continues to impress me. I fully believe that if he was not injured at various times throughout the season, he would be getting Heisman looks. Penn State bounced back from the Buckeye whooping to beat Purdue. When is Purdue going to beat one of the big boys in the Big Ten?
Could Dixon be on track to get the Heisman after Saturday?
In the game of the week, the Oregon Ducks make a case why they should be the #2 team in the country. After that win against Arizona State, I have the Ducks at #2. They have so many weapons on offense; it is very difficult for another team to defend against them. Dennis Dixon has to be one of the top 3 candidates for the Heisman right now. USC got their Booty back, and got back in the win column. The Trojans are a totally different team with Booty at quarterback. His passing skills open up the running game and allow the Trojans to be more balanced.
Saban couldn't muster up enjoy magic to beat his old team
In the SEC, or the second best conference behind the Pac 10, LSU pulled another late game heroic out to beat Alabama in the Saban bowl. This was a great game all around, but we are starting to see cracks in the Tigers’ defense. Teams are able to point 20 or more points against them week after week. It’ll be interesting to see them go up against the East winner in the title game.
McFadden made Spurrier’s run defense look like swiss cheese as he ran for 323 yards. What has happened to the Cocks? They have gone way down hill after beating Kentucky.
Congrats to Navy for finally beating Notre Dame. Somewhere I am sure Roger Staubach was smiling. Finally here is my top 5 for this week in college football.
1. Ohio State
2. Oregon
3. LSU
4. Kansas
5. Oklahoma
