One Last Goodbye for the Orange Bowl

Written by In The Bleachers on .

On Saturday November 10th, the Hurricanes enter their 468th and final game at the Orange Bowl carring a 318-142-7 record in 71 years at the OB. It is a stadium that has housed some great games in college and professional football. It was there that the Flutie Hailmary pass happened, numerous wide lefts and rights in the Miami/Florida State rivalry, Bowden's first national title, Paterno's first undefeated season beating Kansas 15-14, Tom Osborne went for 2 instead of kicking a XP and lost a national title...the list goes on and on. My life does not span even half of the Orange Bowl's so my favorite memory is limited to the past 20 years and remember that I am a Penn State fan. In 1999, the Nittany Lions travel to Miami to play Miami. It was a great game, and Miami led late in the game until Kevin Thompson hit Chafie Fields on a streak pattern with under 2 minutes to play to win the game. The city of Miami already is starting to plan the demolition of the Orange Bowl, and what to do with the pieces, but before any of that Miami will play Virginia on Saturday. This is not the same dominate Canes team that the Orange Bowl was use to in its glory, but I am sure this year's Canes team is aware of the history and will up its level of play to make sure Miami wins their last game in the Orange Bowl. Below is a list of articles that I found which talks about the Orange Bowl.
