50 Best of the Non-BCS: Number 20
#20: RB Miquale Lewis, Ball State

The Verdict: Compact and elusive at only 5-foot-6, Lewis is coming off of the 5th best single season rushing total in MAC history, having accounted for some 1736 yards (5.4 avg) on the ground in 2008. Lewis rushed for over 100 yards in all but three of the Cardinals' games a season ago, including a 166-yard, four touchdown outing in the upset of Indiana. What's amazing about Lewis' 2008 season was that it came on the heels of an injury plagued 2007 campaign in which the senior runner tore his ACL during the fifth game of the season. Incredibly quick, Lewis is a great start and stop runner who displays outstanding cutback ability and a willingness to instigate contact. Deceptively strong for his size, Lewis is also a serviceable receiver out of the backfield and an underrated pass blocker. While Ball state may take a step back without quarterback Nate Davis in 2009, expect Lewis to help keep the Cardinal offense near the top of the MAC.
