50 Best of the Non-BCS: Number 21

#21: CB Nick Sanders, TCU

Cornerback Nick Sanders #20 of the TCU Horned Frogs makes a pass interception in the endzone against Austin Collie #9 of the BYU Cougars at Amon G. Carter Stadium on October 16, 2008 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Verdict: A three year starter at cornerback for the Horned Frogs, Sanders is one of the MWC's best kept secrets. He was an Honorable Mention Freshman All-American pick by The Sporting News in 2006, and earned Honorable Mention MWC accolades a year ago after breaking up 12 passes and recording two interceptions. Along with fellow cornerback Rafael Priest, Sanders helped to cement TCU's pass defense as one of the best in the country, finishing behind only USC in terms of pass efficiency defense rating (as calculated by Phil Steele magazine.) Sanders is not only a physical corner who shows the ability to tackle in space, but also excels in one-on-one coverage. While he's no high on draft projections entering his senior season, he remains an integral reason for TCU's continued defensive dominance in the conference and one player to keep your eye out for in 2009.
