50 Best of the Non-BCS: Number 23

#23: WR Naaman Roosevelt, Buffalo

The Verdict: A former quarterback out of St. Joseph High School in Buffalo (which just happens to be my uncle's alma mater), Roosevelt has been instrumental in helping head coach Turner Gill take Buffalo to the top of the Mid-American Conference after years of on-field futility. While he lacks ideal size at only 6-feet, 187-pounds, Roosevelt compares favorably to former Rice sensation Jarrett Dillard in that he's an all-purpose wide receiver who shows the ability to do multiple things well. Roosevelt is a guy who can stretch the field with great functional speed, but at the time work the interior zones of defenses as a possession receiver. While he's best remembered for his incredible catch of Drew Willy's hail mary toss to beat Temple last season, Roosevelt finished the year atop to MAC in catches (104), receiving yards (1402), and touchdown catches (13). While his numbers are likely to take a dive this season with the Bulls breaking in a new quarterback, Roosevelt has more than earned his way onto the radars of several NFL teams for next year's draft.
