#24: DE CJ Wilson, East Carolina

The Verdict: Few non-BCS conference defensive ends are more feared by opposing tackles than East Carolina's Wilson, who was a first team All Conference-USA selection a season ago after tallying 10.5 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, and a whopping 70 total tackles. While his size (6-4, 271) screams ‘tweener' in a 3-4 scheme, Wilson is much more suited as a traditional end in a 4-3 defense, using his great combination of explosiveness and sheer strength to terrorize opposing quarterbacks. Not just a pass rusher, Wilson shows tremendous use of his hands and diagnostic ability against the run. He's a disciplined player who seldom loses containment, and despite his size is capable of pursuing ball carriers in the backfield with relative ease. A virtual lock for next year's NFL Draft, Wilson should move into Day 1 status with another impressive showing in 2009.
