The NCAA Pool is over!

Written by Michael Felder on .

With the Duke Blue Devils and Mike Krzyzewski claiming the national title last night the college basketball season has finally come to a close and to be honest it doesn't bother me one bit. Quite frankly I'm glad its over and after being bombarded with "that's why college basketball is better than college football" arguments such as this one from Kevin Scarbinsky from al.com. Obviously these columns all hinge upon the "Butler vs Boise State" argument to make their point not the regular season importance or the television ratings.

After some confusion and arguing with idiots, basketball homers, playoff diehards and rational folks alike we figure now is as good a time as any to clearly define our playoff stance so look for that information to drop sometime this week.

Now for what really matters, who won the In The Bleachers Pick'em Pool?

mike1409 is your winner!

With a handle like mike1409 I will assume that he is a guy and thus lead every statement with "he." He picked Duke to win the title, the only person in our pool, went 39-24, had 20 upset points and had both West Virginia and Duke in the final four.

Congrats Mike shoot us an email to InTheBleachers @ gmail.com to claim your wildly mediocre prize that will include some odd combination of old XBox games, cellphone cases and college fun sweatshirts.

In related news Rob Harley, our co-host on Hoot and Holler finished fifth in the tournament in very respectable fashion.

Your's truly proves yet again that college basketball is the furthest thing from a "meter mover" as InTheBleachers finishes with a robust 22nd ranking and zero final four teams. Thanks to Kentucky and Syracuse, two of the best three teams in the nation, for deciding now would be the best time to flame out.

After that dose of, what will always be, The Real One Shining Moment, we're back to the regularly schedule.

And yes that is from my sophomore year of college and I remember sitting in Carmichael Dorm as the Heels won. Am I bitter that Duke won? I'm not nearly as ornery as I would have been if Butler had claimed that title.
