We're breaking up ACC week to drop in an article from one of our favorite writers, Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated. Staples' newest article takes a look at the South Carolina Gamecocks 2010 outlook and the newest feature being added to Steve Spurrier's arsenal of offensive plays. The Old Ball Coach is proving that an old dog can learn new tricks as Shawn Elliott the new running game coordinator has introduced the inside-zone scheme to the Gamecocks.
"That's his thing. It's not mine. This is some new stuff for me," Spurrier said. "We used to just run draw plays and throw it, run a few sweeps and this, that and the other. So we're running that inside zone. That's what they call it now. It can go anywhere. That's the beauty of the play. You can block any defensive front."
Check out the rest of the Andy Staples article for some insight into what the Gamecocks look like for the spring season. Spurrier is making some changes with new faces like Connor Shaw looking good in practice the Garnett and Black have their minds set on one goal; winning the SEC East.
