Wednesday Live Chat: Suspensions for Hits, BCS Rankings and Weekly Predictions

Written by Michael Felder on .

Alright folks as we knew a week ago, this weekend would hold the new BCS Rankings, our first official look into the future of the championship chase. The numbers dropped as expected but there were a few wrinkles in there as Oklahoma sits atop the standings and in the drivers seat for the BCS title game. The non-BCS folks are up in arms over the leap frogging but there are still several weeks left to shake things out. We'll discuss the preliminary standings this week and get some thoughts and BCS predictions going forward as the SEC and Big Ten have a cluster of seven schools in the Top 15.

Another hot topic for this week has been the NFL's move to suspend players for "devastating hits" and other helmet to helmet contact. We're a college site and we'll look at this through our own scope with first how enforceable the rule is and then move to what we'd like to see happen going forward. If this policy is going to be adopted at the NCAA level, given our games' propensity to follow the NFL, this is a rule that must be executed in a proper way to be successful.

Of course folks we'll also run down the Slate of Eight to get your predictions on this week's action. Some very legitimate games and it should be exciting going forward.

As always we kick things off at 4:30et folks so bring your comments, humor and ultimately yourself to the party. We've all go strong opinions here and I think this should be yet another spirited discussion. If you can't make the chat be sure to hit the twitter machine to leave your comments.
