Week Seven Blogpoll: First Draft

Written by Michael Felder on .

So you've seen the News & Notes and you know Pat is enjoying this LSU win. You've checked me out on twitter and you know that I'm clearly basking in this glow. There will be plenty of tooting my own horn and I'll likely need a rub down after I pull a muscle patting myself on the back. Fact is I didn't have that great of a weekend overall picks-wise with Michigan, Bama and Arizona going down BUT the only two games that mattered to me; UNC and LSU, ended up exactly the way I wanted them to.

I'm on cloud nine folks but as we say on the gridiron "On to the next week" and after enjoying this all of Sunday I'm going to move on to my next brilliant pick in due time. For now let's look at the carnage that has become of my blogpoll.

-Just one ACC team. Folks already started complaining about FSU and where I had the Noles in the blogpoll. As you have seen in recent weeks I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the ACC so I took the opposite approach with regards to FSU's win over Miami. Instead of elevating the Noles I dropped the Canes. We'll see how FSU builds on this but I'm being openly skeptical of any ACC team beating another ACC team because odds are they aren't that good. Congrats FSU, you're the one eyed man in the land of the blind.

-We have a new number one. Oregon takes over the top spot this week and we'll see how long that one lasts.

-SEC conundrum. So Sakerlina beat Bama. Auburn beat Sakerlina. Bama beat Arkansas. How in the hell do I make all of this work in the poll while giving respect to the head to head match ups mattering? Simple Auburn's undefeated they go first in the SEC, Sakerlina jumps up ahead of Bama while Arkansas sits right behind them. Oh and LSU is sitting right there behind Alabama at 11 folks. Watch out, shades of 2007, no?

-New to the poll? We've got Mizzou, Florida State, Oregon State and Baylor WEST VIRGINIA making the poll this week. From looking at each teams upcoming schedule they all should be safe for at least this coming Saturday; although the Beavers date with Washington could be an unexpected L.

-Out of the poll. The Gators and the Canes are both out of the poll, through in the Wolverines and you've got three historically solid programs sitting on the outside looking in. K-State has been proven as fraudulent by the Huskers which means Bill Snyder needs to go raid a few JUCOs.
