In The Bleachers Podcast: Laura McKeeman Talks Gators

Written by Michael Felder on .

New ITBSorry this is getting up a bit late folks but it's well worth the listen as Laura McKeeman from Fox Sports and Scoutjoins us to talk about the entire Florida situation from a bunch of different angles. We cover the departure of Urban Meyer, who Laura thinks is going to be the right guy to replace Meyer, what this means on the recruiting landscape, we examine the job from the Florida State and Miami sides and ultimately discuss where this job ranks in the world of college football. Oh, and we also talk barbecue and we now have the a little Eastern North Carolina vinegar sauce vs Sakerlina mustard sauce feud brewing between the two of us.

Laura sees the move as a year in the making and now that Meyer is gone it is on Foley to make the right hire. While everyone is tossing out names like Dan Mullen and Bob Stoops our friend Laura drops the Jim Harbaugh bomb as a real possibility. I love that move if Florida can get him and she has swayed me into the believer camp on Captain Comeback. Talk turns to Florida's recruits with Jeff Driskel as the capstone of the class. With a quick look through the class the biggest issues haven't changed with Meyer's departure; pro styled wide receiver and defensive linemen.

As Laura and I get into the job itself we discuss how the Seminoles have taken the lead in the Sunshine State and Miami is now under intense pressure as recruits jump ship and they scramble to find a suitable replacement at the head coaching position. Florida is one of the best jobs available and as we talk it is clear that guys like Bob Stoops and Jim Harbaugh are both going to have a tough time turning down the Gators' overtures.
