In The Bleachers Podcast: Mike James from The Birddog
Folks we talked to Patrick Stevens on the podcast yesterday to get a little bit of the Army-Navy conversation started and today we take that talk to an all new level with this guest. We're joined by NavyBirdDog on the twitter machine aka Mike James of "the unofficial peanut gallery of Navy sports" The Birddog. I've been looking forward to this show folks and while all our episodes are must listens this one was fun because instead of talking about the pageantry, the atmosphere surrounding Army-Navy and the pomp and circumstance James and I hunker down to talk...wait for it...wait for it...actually real life on the field football.
That's right folks we get into some of the nuance after a quick Navy season recap. We talk about the differences between Navy's offense and the Army scheme that are so often unfairly lumped into the same category based upon the premise that "all options are the same." We talk about how Navy's defense is going to combat the new Wing-T aspect of the Army offense, a scheme that James and I are both somewhat familiar with.
Then we get into the real meat of the podcast, the Double Eagle Flex and how Navy is going to handle it. Rich Ellerson, famous from his days with the Desert Swarm of Arizona, has taken a lot of those hybrid principles to Army and with some success against Air Force the Black Knights are optimistic about their prospects. Listen up folks, we're having fun talking football and you just might learn a little something.
