In The Bleachers Podcast: Talking UNC Spring Game with Brett Jensen
One of our favorite guests, Brett Jensen from The Southern Sports Journal and WFNZ, stops by to talk about the upcoming UNC Spring Game this Saturday in Kenan Stadium. We don't spend too much time talking player or position specifics, rather Jensen and I wax philosophically on what this spring game means to Butch Davis and UNC as a whole.
The first issue we discuss is attendance. During my time in Chapel Hill we never had more than 1,000 folks at the spring game and in the years since 2006's spring game I've never seen more than a very generous 4,000 people in attendance. Jensen throws out a robust 30,000 as a very healthy number to shoot for and come Saturday you better believe I'll be doing my best rough estimate of UNC progress to that goal.
Regarding the game's importance to Butch Davis, Jensen discusses how this game could be a moment where BD can assert himself verbally if he's disappointed in the fan attendance. With the game within an easy drive from Greensboro, the Triangle and Charlotte there is no reason folks shouldn't come out to support the nation's top returning defense and have a gander at the early look for the Tar Heels.
Lastly we run through the importance to the recruiting effort and then discuss the areas that UNC must show improvement on during the spring game.
