ITB's Slate of Eight: BCS Championship Game

Written by Michael Felder on .

New ITBFolks we've arrived at the finish line. Tonight we'll see the Auburn Tigers from the SEC take on the Oregon Ducks out of the Pac-10 in a game that features two of college football's most dynamic offenses and up and coming coaching personalities in Chip Kelly and Gene Chizik. To preview tonight's game we've got Bryan Fischer from CBS Sports joining us on the podcast to hit the championship from all angles. Our paths have crossed plenty of times via the great twitter machine and now Bryan Fischer joins us on the air for the show today.

Fischer and I kick it off with what has been the most polarizing issue in this college football season, Cam Newton. Folks are split almost down the middle on Cam the player, the ruling and it has brought out a lot of ugly this season. Fischer explains why he feels the NCAA played it safe with their decision and then we get to talk actual football by discussing Cam's monumental season and his impact on this Auburn Tigers football team.

Oregon get's their due as we discuss squaring their preseason expectations and the uncertainty nationally due to the loss of Jeremiah Masoli. Fischer lets me know I'm not crazy in thinking Darron Thomas is the true key to the Duck's offense and we talk about the young quarterback's maturation and control of the scheme. On defense we get into the match ups because in this game the spotlight might be on Newton, Thomas, LaMichael James and Michael Dyer but the onus is on Ted Roof and Nick Aliotti to find a way to stop these offensive juggernauts.

Predictions roll in as the west coast Bryan Fischertakes the Ducks and I roll with the War CAM Eagles. Not because of the southern connection though folks, I swear, it has everything to do with losing the Clemson, Arkansas, LSU and Bama games to Cam Newton before I truly believed he was Superman.

The twitter machine will be on and popping tonight so be sure to follow if you already don't and there will be plenty of interaction. We've reached the end folks so enjoy the BCS Championship Game and of course Europe.
