ITB's Slate of Eight: Bowl Week One
So folks we've got the Slate of Eight up and rolling for you albeit a day late and we've got long time friend in the civilian world and friend of the program Chip Patterson from the CBS Sports College Football Blog stops by. We have got three bowl games to discuss for the coming weeks folks so enjoy the show and we also do a little discussion of the newest Florida Gator addition, Will Muschamp.
Yeah we definitely hit the Muschamp ordeal pretty hard as was philosophical on how BOOM is going to impact the Gators going forward. I'm fully on board the Will Muschamp train just in case you haven't seen the twitter worship that included a few #SWOON4BOOM's dropped in their for good measure. Here are the bowls that we've got to tackle after the Muschamp discussion:
New Mexico Bowl
uDrove Humanitarian Bowl
R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
So we kick it off with this year's addition of one of last season's most exciting bowl games, the showdown between Fresno State and Wyoming. This year we've got BYU and UTEP squaring off in a battle of two teams that are on very different trajectories. The Cougars are 4-1 in their last 5 while the Miners are now 1-5 in their last 6 after opening the year at 5-1. In the Humanitarian Bowl we see the Bulldogs take on the Huskies up on the blue turf. Chandler Harnish, one of the more effecient QBs in the nation looks to move Northern Illinois further into success after their unexpected loss in the MAC title game. Fresno State is always a quality ball club but I expect NIU, even without Jerry Kill to be the more consistent football team.
We wrap up with Ohio vs Troy and we both agree just too many athletes at Troy. This should be an exciting game to watch and has been historically as Ohio's Boo Jackson looks to get Frank Solich's Bobcats to 9 wins on the year. Troy's defense is better than advertised, point totals are a bit skewed due to some blow outs against quality competition and on offense they did put up 38 on the Pokes of Oklahoma State.
And yes that is Katy Perry. Just because I wanted to.
