ITB's Slate of Eight: Bowl Week Two
So we're coming up on week two of the bowls folks and that means yet another edition of ITB's Slate of Eight just for y'all. This week we've got Mark Ennis, friend of the program and Louisville blogger over at The Collision Course. Not only is Mark going to break down the Cardinals bowl game, their first since 2006, but he is going to break down the five other games we've got from Tuesday to Monday as we enter defcon five aka CHRISTMAS WEEK!
Take a break from all the Christmas music, do not take a break from the Evan Williams Eggnog and instead of being bombarded and overwhelmed with Christmas just enjoy this podcast as a way to wow your annoying relatives with your football knowledge of programs you should know nothing about. That's right we've got six games for this week folks and as you pull into grandma's house or that weird uncle shows up you'll be able to wow them with obscure truthy truths.
Here's this week's Slate:
Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl
MAACO Las Vegas Bowl
San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
Little Caesars Bowl
Advocare V100 Independence Bowl
We've got Mark's game up first tonight with the Cardinals going up against a Southern Mississippi squad that has some good tools but should struggle to stop Strong's rushing attack. In the Las Vegas Bowl we see if the Broncos can end their streak of losing non-BCS bowl games as the Utah Utes come in as the clear underdog. Navy vs the Aztecs will be one of the better games this week as Brady Hoke looks to have his defense ready to stop Ricky Dobbs and the Midshipmen's option attack.
In the Hawaii Bowl Mark and I get into how Hawaii gets up to play in the same bowl on an almost yearly basis. This year the game in Honolulu should be a scorefest as both Tulsa and the Warriors put up points by the bunches and come in looking to sling the ball around the yard. In the Pizza Pizza Bowl we've got Mario Cristobal making his bowl debut with a Golden Panthers team that is mightily underrated as a squad. They're 6-6 but 4 of those 6 losses have come to BCS teams in the non-conference schedule. Toledo is not slouch squad themselves as their only MAC loss came to now 11-win Northern Illinois.
Lastly we get Georgia Tech facing off against Air Force in a game that the ACC definitely needs to win. Watching Al Groh's 3-4, which has been far from impressive this season, attempt to stop this Air Force multifaceted option attack is going to be good TV the Monday after Christmas.
Enjoy the show folks and enjoy Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
